Biography

Joanna Rothwell is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Professor Dee Carter and Dr. Mark Bradbury at the University of Sydney as part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre For Food Safety in the Fresh Produce Industry.

Joanna’s PhD project involves investigating the efficacy of current and novel post-harvest sanitiser treatments in order to reduce waste and eliminate the risk of food borne pathogens in fresh produce. Prior to this, Joanna completed her Bachelor of Science with an honours project testing a novel anti-fungal drug against invasive mould species. Joanna is also a committee member of the Joint Academic Microbiology Seminars (JAMS) group.
